Growing Peace in
New York City
Growing Peace partnered with The Ladies of Hope Ministries (LOHM) to install a new, cutting-edge hydroponics garden at Hope House NYC in the Bronx. The towers yield 40-80 pounds of leafy greens and herbs every month.
We are pleased to announce that Hope House was accepted into the Farmers Market Federation of NY
The Farmers Market Federation of NY works with over 700 farmers’ markets statewide, government agencies, nonprofits, the local farm community, and consumers across the state. Their vision involves building an alliance of farmers’ markets to help create a network of sustainable markets that offer viable outlets to local farmers, a diversity of fresh local foods to consumers, and provides economic and social benefits to the community.
A Women for Women Food Drive
At a recent event in NYC, Growing Peace partnered with The Ladies of Hope Ministries to donate fresh produce grown from the hydroponic garden to more than 100 families.
Partnering with
Dr. Topeka Sam
LOHM founder Dr. Topeka Sam and her team worked with Growing Peace Founder Steven Hoffen to bring a hydroponic system to Hope House NYC. The produce from the garden provides the women of the house with nutritious produce for themselves and the community. Through this project, the women have the opportunity to cultivate their business skills by selling leafy greens and herbs grown in the hydroponic garden to local restaurants.
Awarded The LOHM Epic-Y Innovator Award
This award recognizes the dedication and partnership with founder, Topeka Sam, and The Ladies of Hope Ministries in helping to end poverty and incarceration of women and girls.

See How We Are Growing
One of the towers is visibly growing head lettuce and another Allstar lettuce. There will also be bok choy, cilantro, basil, mint, and kale. The ladies at the house were taught the basics of what to do daily to maintain the garden, such as testing the pH and ensuring any plants on the grow rack had nutrient-rich water.
Hydroponics Installation
Through additional fundraising efforts, Growing Peace can extend humanitarian efforts to bring hydroponics to schools, more food pantries, and other organizations that help those in need.
