Growing Peace in Washington Heights, NYC
In partnership with the UJA Federation of New York, Growing Peace installed seven hydroponics towers at the YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood (the Y). Each tower yields 5-10 pounds of fresh produce every month which will help nourish the center’s Wien House, a facility for low-income and disabled seniors.
Partnering with UJA Federation
Growing Peace is proud to work with the UJA Federation of New York to respond to ongoing challenges and emerging issues, starting with the installation of the hydroponics garden at the YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood (the Y).
The hydroponics garden is also being used as a teaching tool for the neighboring youngsters ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. Growing Peace is actively helping them to learn about hydroponics and help harvest.
Hydroponics is a powerful tool, growing a bounty of healthy greens to fuel bodies in need, and acting as an educational experience to enrich young minds
